"To differ strikingly"

In this show, Earthly Gifts means images from forest, garden and table, featuring abstract impressions of the abundance that the Earth has to offer from artists Bonnie Leighton and Leslie Bundon.

We are challenging artists to try abstraction as their creative style. Abstract art may seem spontaneous but it is actually very difficult to achieve the right visual space – without landscapes or people – that sends the viewers into journeys of their own.

Lifelines, water bodies, is a photo-based exhibition exploring the body entangled within landscapes and the suggestion of landforms created by bodies in flux. In the photographs, human bodies wrap around, tuck into, and hide within crevices, rocks, caves, trees, and each other.

Themes of gardens, parks, hedges, shrubbery, over the top topiary, greenhouses, memorials, statues, crypts and even cemeteries have been pre- occupying my mind.

Tides & Moons: Herring Capital is a new animated art installation by Cindy Mochizuki that shares memories and stories from Japanese Canadian fishing and boat building families who populated Nanaimo shorelines before World War II.

A day of crafts, markets, live music and holiday treats in Esquimalt.

Original two-dimensional printed, dyed, and stitched textiles and paper, the focus of this special art show by Shannon Wardroper features large-scale folded textile sculptures inspired by the “choice versus chance” fortune-telling game that children play.

The Winter Studio Tour is back Saturday, November 26, with 20 participating stops open from 10–4. Included in the tour this year, is the Holiday Craft Market featuring Farmer’s Market favorites, handmade gifts, and baking at the Hornby Hall.
