Where are the resources for artists?

Mapping Vancouver Island + Rural Islands Arts Infrastructure

We've built a database of all the physical resources that exist in the Vancouver Island/Rural Islands region to support artists, artisans, creative entrepreneurs and arts organizations, such as art and business schools, supply stores, venues, studio spaces, galleries, and fabricators.

Then we created a map to show where they are all located. Unfortunately the map plugin is no longer free - the Airtable platform wants us to pay for it. So we're looking for a new way to showcase our map. Stay tuned! (November 2023 update).

This is what the map looked like.

In the meantime, why not check out these other maps we created this past summer with Simon Fraser University PhD Candidate Foroozan Daneshzand. We wanted to see what it would look like to map where arts funding goes in our region. The short video below offers a quick tour. You can play around with the vizzes yourself here. We would love to hear your thoughts about this experiment - email us at info@creativecoast.ca
