Rosemary Danaher is an experienced potter and teacher. She is teaching hand building using the soft slab method. Students will learn how to handle clay, roll it out, imprint it or scribe a decorative pattern, and build it onto a form for drying, how to 'clean up' your shape after the first firing, and how to glaze, then finish the final piece after glazing. The projects include a plant holder and/or a plaque for the wall, with other smaller objects using up small scraps of clay.

This workshop costs $70.00, which includes one year membership in Cowichan Lake Arts and Culture Society.

Members pay $50. There is minimal or no charge for high school students.

This series begins on Monday, September 26th, at 10:00am, and continues on Tuesday, October 11 and Monday, October 17th.

First Class: Approximately 6 hours to roll out clay, imprint, shape and prepare for drying. Rosemary will 'babysit' these pieces for two weeks, until they are dry, and she will do the first firing.

Second Class: Approximately 3 hours for participants to clean up their newly fired pieces and glaze them. Rosemary will take these pieces home to fire them.

Third Class: Approximately 3 hours for people to finish the pieces, and do a little show and tell.
